Reality

          A mirror, me standing in front of it & my reflection in it. That's it. I stand there staring at an illusion created in the mirror. Simple physics. Light rays, bumping off me, collide on the surface of the mirror. The rays reflect & traverse a path, bound by the laws of optics. Few of the rays manage to enter my eyes, through pupils, causing an inverted image in retina & some sensory mechanism is triggered & Voila! I see myself in the mirror, an illusion. Illusion, how very distinct from the reality.......

          Hmmm .... So there I am, in reality, a mirror & an illusion. Or is it? What if there is, at some distant end of universe, mirror of gargantuan proportions. The real real me is standing over there staring into the mirror. Light rays, bumping off him, collide on the surface of the mirror. The rays reflect & traverse a path, bound by the laws of optics. Few of the rays manage to enter his eyes, through pupils, causing an inverted image in retina & some sensory mechanism is triggered & Voila! the only real me comes into existence. Who will confirm? I wonder the reflection of real me knows better.

          Reality? Yeah right!

Thoughts

Whilst I stay aloof, aloft......

My mind shrine to lonely thought;
My mind yearns for thine amnesty;
My eyes await thine radiance;
My skin logs to bask in thine breath;
My presence expands to merge into yours;

My love don't you feel the same?
Don't you feel the same?............

A BEAUTIFUL MiND

It takes courage to question when the answers are obvious….
It takes courage to be mad when world around you is blinded by flood of enlightenment….
It takes courage to scream when silence is considered golden….
It takes courage to be bad when good guys always win the hearts….
It takes courage to imagine beyond when price of thinking is absurdity….
It takes courage to fly high where having wings is considered felony….
It takes courage to make a difference where change is too comforting to let go….
It takes courage to see beauty where there is none,
It takes courage to have dreams which no one can think of,
It takes courage to stay hungry & foolish,
It takes courage to think differently,
It takes courage to have a Beautiful Mind.

-Dedicated to Steve Jobs.
You will always inspire to question, change, excel & think beyond.......

The Beauty of Randomness

I’m writing this because…… well it’s absolutely random! My sister just asked me for link to my blog, reminding of its existence. May be if it weren't raining so heavily, I wouldn't be home (quite possible) or may be if my sister had something better to do (highly improbable), she wouldn't ask me about my blog. Which makes me think what life is if not long chain of utterly random events coming together & forming a sequence (which in itself is one of the infinite permutation& combinations of the events)?
What is the difference between a person who was present at blast location & another who had passed it a couple of minutes before? What was the probability of Newton sitting beneath an apple tree one fine day & an apple falling off at the same time? Where would I be now had some random person decided to include two questions, I didn’t know answers to, randomly in the entrance test? The more we think about it the more we realize how utterly out of control we are in our life. Entire life which we tend to plan could change drastically due to some random mistake by some random driver, driving some random vehicle, at some random place! Let’s face it; we are flowing in gushing stream of randomness in which we are merely a droplet.
But wait, this is not a cynical attempt to make you believe how absolutely helpless we are. Once we let go the pretence of all the control, we see the sheer beauty of randomness. Our life is presenting us plethora of possibilities that any lifetime plan could ever give! You never know you miss a bus & who you’ll meet. You never know a random thought might take you places. You never know a butterfly might save your house (The Butterfly Effect). That’s the beauty, you just DO NOT know! How exciting it is than a life which has every single day planned to the last second. Now it is up to us whether to fight till last breath to gain control over the flow or just let go & enjoy the ride. (It is the randomness making the decision anyways!)
So here you are randomly reading this article which itself was written randomly because of some random sequence of events. You might have gone through the Butterfly Effect link given above. You might follow it up on Google, exposing you to more random information about randomness making you believe (or ridicule) this randomness stuff, who knows what will happen of it down the line, but you have to concede all of this was pretty random!

A Different World........

          I step inside.......... I'm greeted by an ever smiling fellow as if we were knowing each other for years (even when I was a first timer there!)..........My nostrils get filled with unmistakable smell which originates from thousands of things & yet is so unique........I select a corner place among neatly organised, small yet comfortable tables. Summer heat, ever honking traffic doesn't bother me anymore...........Because this place belongs to different world......No it's a world in itself......It's an Irani restaurant!
          The ambiance is no match to anything else in this world.On one of the walls hangs frame displaying a New-York Times copy dating back to 16th April, 1912- a day after Titanic sank.There is one more showing classic movie scene which belongs to glorious Harley-Davidson era......Man! The place simply rocks! As I'm engrossed in these thoughts, the previous guy appears in front of me for order. There are too may things I would have had anyday, but owing to constraints on my financial resources I settle for a tea.......

          It's not a rush hour...... The place is quiet.....Occasional visitors......who knows how old this thing is. May be it's here since the British Raj....at least 6 decades. Every small thing in the place has a time tag on it. Everything is age old, and nothing is willing to change even when everything outside is dynamic. A watch bearing name of New-York Times ltd. draws my attention......... This watch must have struck at midnight as Mr. Nehru was uttering words "a tryst with destiny........"! I don't belong to that era. But this place makes me feel I should have belonged there. The place is enchanting......

          My thoughts are again interrupted by the same fellow, this time with tea & same acknowledging smile. I wonder from where this person gets so much of enthusiasm....May be he
likes it here too!The tea....nothing special about it. A lot of sugar & milk....not how I like it. But who cares as long I can sit around & observe the proceedings. With each sip of tea I'm connected to place in different ways.I reluctantly take the last sip, pay & stand-up to leave. As I'm making exit the old fellow waves to me & thanks me for visiting.Sure it must be an old trick in trade of his, but effective.I'm going to visit the place again & again & again...... I leave the place & become part of existing world again.....The heat is killing me....why do people honk so much?

PS: I apologize to friends who accompanied & introduced me to the place. I was too engrossed in
to notice them.

Celebrating 26/11.......

          On the evening of 26/11 I happened to be passing by a regional party office. The place was nothing short of an orchestra......dancing lights.......party "volunteers" always full of energy to shout their guts out......a stage packed to it's maximum with party "leaders" who were too busy in making sure that they are never out of camera frame.......a couple of speakers who were playing inspirational songs at the loudest possible volume......a crowd of few curious spectators who could afford to spend a minute or two from their routine to see something "different" & behind all this few pictures of brave martyrs who lost their lives exactly an year ago.......
          It was quiet apparent that the program was arranged to pay tribute to brave Police Officers who fought & lost their lives on 26th November 2008. Even volunteers were bored of shouting same slogans & weren't responding to the anchor. Then suddenly everyone on stage became alert as a prominent "leader" arrived at the scene.Someone had to step down from stage to make room for that leader & nobody was ready to do so....finally after some time everyone compromised some space to allow him on stage.The moment he arrived "volunteers" came to life & then there was a round of slogans about the leader for a minute or two. By this time many people had gathered to see "what's the matter?".....
          Finally the leader stood to speak.......Soon after he had said the cliche`d lines you are supposed to say at such occasions he changed his track & went on criticizing the ruling government(need I say He was leader from an opposition party!). Many times his "excellent" statements criticizing the ruling government fetched him a big round of applause from his supporters.After the speech it was time to stand for two minutes in silence. The minutes were quiet silent if you neglect ever ringing cell phones & people attending "really urgent" calls. After this anchor formally declared that the program was over & the leader left the stage.The next moment stage was deserted as all others on stage were competing to help the leader to get to his car.
           All who had stopped for five minute "enjoyment" slowly dispersed....."volunteers" started to discuss which place in area is the best for Chinese food......Soon the electricians started to collect their stuff.....contract workers moved in to dissemble the stage.......only thing unattended were photos of those brave martyrs..........

Girls........

(NOTE:Though universally applicable to almost all girls please notice all girls who will be reading this are exception............)

According to Bible Lord said "Let there be light!" & the world came into existence sun,moon,ocean,Adam everything materialised.......that's actually only half of the story.The second part is world's best preserved secret.It goes like this.....after creating world Lord said "Let there be Problem" & Eve made her way from sky into the world!
If you want to commit suicide & are too reluctant to eat Cyanide,or don't want to hang yourself,or acrophobic I have a simple solution......spend an hour or so with a girl (I'm not saying she would kill you but she will make sure that above mentioned options become more feasible), & if you survive that hour without much of brain damage then remember you are enlightened one.In that case you should give up the idea of suicide & spend your rest of life preaching the world.
Girls.....they are so enigmatic.There are some people out there trying to invent time machine but I'm sure even a person whose IQ equals [(Einstein+Newton+Hawking) square] can't predict how a girls might react in next five seconds.
If you think finding out Osama Bin Laden is a tough job try to go out with a girl for shopping.I have never seen a shop which can provide a girl exact shade of top,nail polish or any such thing & invariably the shop has many shades "resembling" the shade they want.If you enter a boutique with a girl & succeed in leaving that place within an hour please contact Mr.Obama he needs you desperately.
If you enter ladies compartment you are kicked on butt & if a woman enters other compartment it's your "moral responsibility" to get up & give her your seat.If you are getting late for exam & queue is never-ending & you ask a girl near counter to get you a ticket you are history (pls don't try this results may be fatal) & for a girl ticket counter is always a smile away.It has become an unwritten rule if a man & a woman are quarreling the man is to be blamed & deserves a severe punishment (Last part is appplicable to those who are percecuted by system & are waiting to unload themselves).Over all this all men have to listen how women are not still empowered..........
So after thinking all about this I have come to a conclusion before they make your life miserable accept the fact " GIRLS WILL BE GIRLS" & learn to live with it.In case it's just too much listen to Billy Joel number "She's always a woman"..........turn up the volume..........enjoy.........even if you can't!

Art of saying "NO!"

          Blessed are those who can plainly say "NO!",without any hesitation or feeling guilty about it...............Unfortunately for me (& fortunately for all parasites who know me) I'm not blessed with this quality.

          While putting forward his theory of evolution Mr. Darwin missed very important point.I  strongly recommend that if theory of evolution is rewritten "Survival of creature with capability of refusing" should be included instead of "Survival of fittest".Only people having some experience would know how badly it hurts to get feeling of "I could have said NO!!!!!!" & how difficult it is to survive without saying NO.

          May it be my neighbor asking me to get her something even when I'm evidently in hurry (as if I have all time in world) or my fellow passenger in train asking me to shift a bit (even when I'm fourth person sitting & already putting great effort to maintain my equilibrium) or any random XYZ person asking me to do any random ABC thing when knowing I have to something else which is more important than ABC; know one thing for sure, this person has some serious problem with his vocal chords due to which can't utter the magical word "NO!".
          World would have been a lot better place had my vocal chords allowed me to pronounce "NO!".

          & now as I live on with this problem & as all the parasites I know (In some cases I don't even know) continue using me like a useful resource of work I'm searching for a nice tutor who would teach me to pronounce "NO!" or a skilled surgeon who can fix my vocal chords.........anyone interested in job.........please!!!!!!!!

Why do people smoke in public???????

          I've asked myself at least thousand times & still the answer eludes me.Yesterday a middle aged,well educated man took the count to 1001.

          My mom had forced me to take heavy bag of vegetables to my aunt's place & it was a flooded train compartment (It's been ages since someone have mentioned about an empty train compartment......it must be like heaven!).My body had assumed minimum possible volume & my lungs were denied of oxygen due to external pressure exerted by my co-passengers which by God's mercy were huge.I was almost lost in that small compartment & was hoping that the same pressure would force me out of train on desired location.

          As if my troubles weren't enough there comes a man.Middle aged & oil on his enough for a plate of Rava (only VJTIans would know what I mean!).He takes out a cigarette,lights it in heroic style & starts smoking!I was hardly able to stand & that person was standing on foot board & smoking without any regret.My lungs desperate for Oxygen were now fighting out to keep all the gases originating from the cigarette away.I wondered as he continued his smoking nobody in compartment (including myself) showed any intention of stopping that defiant person.Probably because we Mumbaikars are immune to everything happening around us.

          All the time I was juggling to avoid smoke & get some fresh air.At last I got out the train (Luckily on desired station!) & my body filled with fresh air (God..............that was bliss!).

Government has banned smoking in public but is there anyone out there to see whether the people abide by the law?Everyday I see many people smoking on road,trains.Will anybody stop this????????

I don't want to be a forced smoker because of actual smokers.........

Hmm......So finaly I've started bloggnig!It wouldn't make any differnce to crores sitting out there but for me it's very special.........For 19 years of my life I've witnessed many things good,bad & ugly.Right from 26th july,blasts to T-20 finals...........After every such happening my mind used say a lot but it was only in my world...........now I can share it with many people...who might have the same feelings as mine.Let's see how it goes............That's it for this time..........Let's see where life takes me.
